So it turns out I still have a blog
Keeping up with a blog is hard, especially when you don't do anything worth posting. So here! Something!

Speed Draw
EDIT: Blogspot has the worst video compression ever. EVER.
This is how I do.
It's mostly a test to try out the screen record whateverwhatever feature in Quicktime. Enjoy it anyway!
if you guys like it/I decide it's fun enough, I'll post more! Maybe some of me drawing, maybe some of me animating, maybe some gameplay of some sorts, who knows!!!

GAME (Not Even Alpha)
I've always wanted to make a game, and so I spent a little bit of time, drew up some sprites, built a little test level, and had a go.
Here's what I came up with:
FLOHTING
BLAUWGHKS
Let's count what's gone wrong so far:1. No animations
I spent a good while drawing separate frames for everything (well, the basics: idle, run, and jump animations) and then had to double it and flip it, so I had a total of six different animations. Nothing fancy, although I am pleased with the one I made of Lester blinking while standing still.
So those aren't working. He only faces either left or right.
2. Terrible Controls
I suppose that's what you get for slapping the stock "run and jump" controls and physics to a sprite. He doesn't jump, and he slides around way to much. So that needs some fixing. Ill probably build the codes myself.
3. Sprite is too small
My fault. After all, he's smaller than a 50x50 pixel box.
So it looks like my fantastic game of adventure is off to a great start already!

Doodedoo
Doodedoo's are interesting little critters. They are amphibious, and can't see very well, but their superior senses of taste and hearing help them get by. Their smelling works a little differently from other animals. Rather than identifying scents through their nostrils, they detect different scents with their tongue, like a snake. Unlike a snake, however, they register the smell, not as an actual scent, but as a color. Good smells are brighter and easier to locate, bad smells are darker and mostly left alone.
Apparently they like acorns, too.

In Memoriam
I had a dog at one point, but he got angry and left. I guess it's because I stopped giving him porkchops or something. Either that, or he didn't like my sheep. So I erected this monument to remember him by, and I guess it was more or less Pudding when he left.
Pudding was a rough year for us all.

Slayin' Mini Review
I found an interesting new game on iTunes the other day, called Slayin'. It's a pixelated "endless runner RPG". The goal of the game is to run and hop back and forth across the screen, defeating monsters (who go pop when they touch your sword), collect coins, get the high score, and stay alive. There are little merchants that pop up from time to time to sell you armor, food, or better weapons, and occasionally "A great danger approaches!" as a brief boss battle. When you die, your score is tallied up, and any achievements you completed net you an extra fifty points each. The higher your score, the more "Fame" you earn, which you can use to purchase extra characters, or upgrades for your tombstone.
Yes, folks, you can trick out your tombstone with some sweet decor.
After that, you can dash back into the field and try for a higher score. It's a lot of fun for such a simple game, and it's surprisingly difficult to put down.
So yeah, if you have an iPod Touch, go play it!

I'll color it in, but I just wanted to get this up here so you can see it.
I've had ideas about making some sort of animation with this before.
I'd like to thank the song Tom's Dog for inspiring this.

Princess Twilight Sparkle
Yes, I watch it.
It's a good show.
Shush, I'm talking.
Shoosh.
no.
Firstly, why on earth did they make Twilight an alicorn? I mean, I guess that's cool and all. Now she has the power of magic AND flight. She'll finally be able to get the stupid book off the top shelf herself!
That's all great and good and all, but what about her friends? Is she staying in Ponyville?
And why oh me oh my, WHY did they make her a PRINCESS?
I suppose I should back up. The entire season finale was... ok. Mostly mediocre. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good. I had to watch it a second time before I realized that it wasn't a bad episode necessarily.
Just poorly executed.
It begins with Twilight singing. That alone is a problem. Twilight isn't the type of character who just bursts into song about things. She's more the type who rolls their eyes when someone ELSE sings. She never really sang anytime prior to this episode (maybe once or twice, maybe) so when she starts off the episode with a big musical number, it just feels odd and out of character.
Then there's the actual song she's singing. It's all about how wonderful and perfect everything is, and it's just screaming to the audience that everything is NOT all good in the hood. What honestly isn't a bad song is somewhat tainted by the fact that the audience is kept in suspense the entire time, just waiting for everything to come crashing down.
And then it does. It turns out that Rarity has decided to take over Rainbow Dash's job of taming the local weather. Enter the problem: She has Rainbow Dash's cutie mark instead of her own.
"Everything is NOT alright!"
Well said, Twilight. Well said.
So barely even three minutes into the episode, the audience is left to wrap their brains around Twilight singing a happy song full of suspense and then smacked upside the head with the conflict, full speed, and with no warning.
It turns out (eventually, because it takes forever for Twilight to actually explain) that she accidentally activated a spell the previous night, which caused the destinies of each of the Elements of Harmony to swap with each other, of course affecting the ponies tied to those elements.
Confusing? Yes. The audience is left spinning around and around, trying to get a hold on what's going on now.
"It's all good! Wait, no, it's not good anymore, but why? Oh, I see, but wait, how? Oh, ok, I-but wait, huh? When did that even- ohhhh, wait, what?"
Yeah.
So now that the conflict has been established (via song) Twilight goes home for a cry (and another song) and a couple of minutes later she dashes out with a perfect plan to fix everything (by song, of course.)
All of this is starting to feel awfully cramped, isn't it? There's no time to settle into the story elements before things are upturned and changed on us. It's disorienting and hard to enjoy.
Within moments, the crisis has been rectified, and in a sudden and magnificent light show, BAM
Twilight Alicorn Sparkle.
WHAT???
So, along comes Trolestia, who whisks Twilight to some sort of other dimension, shows her clips of previous episodes, and sings about how she's been watching her grow and learn about friendship.
More like SPYING. I'm on to you, Celestia...

And then there's a giant ceremony wherein Twilight is crowned a princess and Celestia and Luna and everyone all bow before the new ruler.
Maybe it's just me, but this episode is so full of finality it just feels too much as though this is it. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, three seasons, thank you, goodbye!
Seriously, though, this feels too much as though it needs to be a SERIES finale, instead of a SEASON finale. It's hard to see how the series is going to go on now.
But that's only half of my complaint. The other half is the fact that the whole thing was crammed and stuffed into a single episode. If it could have spanned two full episodes, it would've been easier to swallow, but as one giant chunk, it's too much to take, and it doesn't taste very good served so quickly.
Like food, you get sick if you watch it too fast.
Except you eat food. But work with me here.
So where does the show stand now? Well, it's very hard to see Twilight staying in Ponyville anymore. It's even harder to imagine her friends leaving everything behind to live in Canterlot with her.
I'm as eager as anyone to see how the rest of the series pans out. I'm certain that I'm overthinking the whole thing and that the show will continue to be brilliant and entertaining, but as it stands, it's difficult to see.
We'll see.
Double-Oh-Daisy
Hey all! I know I have like twos of fans, but I just wanted to let all of you all know that my darling fiance has just started a blog of her own! If you're interested in fashion, nail art, and fashion again, go look at her! She's high-stylin and super cool. And she even thinks I'm ok! SWEET
Seriously, though, go check her out. Probably not much there right now, but like with me, just keep checking on us, we'll have stuff. Go tell her to draw stuff, too!
Or me, I'll draw too. You could ask me.
But this is about BECKY. Go ask BECKY to draw for you!
It's like, perfect, because I'm like a turbonerd, and she's a superfashionistarita, and so we go together like peanuts and butter!
(What?)
Anywho, link to her page BAM: http://doubleohdaisy.blogspot.com/

Kamikaze: Flower Garden Jungle (WIP)
It might be a bit hard to see, but this is part of a sketch I'm working on. I did it while listening to Kamikaze by Owl City, and it's already inspired me to make some other images.
I'll figure out a way to draw a jungle coming out of the garden. Somehow.

These are just some doodles I did to get used to using my new tablet. I'd never used one until recently, and at first it was a little tricky, but I got the hang of it. It's just like using a regular pen or pencil, except you look straight ahead, instead of down all the time.
This makes a great desktop background.
Anywho, this is my guy, Lester, and he likes music, I guess. Swirly red music, yes. Mysterious, mmm.
Mysteriously swirly red music.
I love how this came out. Special thanks to my lovely fiance Becky for making me redo the shading!

Gum MAN and the Spacely Goat
The next exciting episode of Gum MAN!!!
Note that this is not Gum MAN 4, which is in the works.
I don't know why it's so small and poorly compressed... if anyone knows how to properly compress an animation file without losing all the detail, I'd love to hear about it. Leave a comment if you liked the video or have a tip!

Talking Time
So I guess if I have a blog, it kind of entails that I frequently post things on it. So since I'm locked out of my job application for the next ten minutes, I figured I'd just start typin' away.
I'm in a bit of an unemployed spot right now. I'm currently hired by a group called AXIOM Staffing, which is fine and all, except that my assignment keeps ending wherever they send me. Temps aren't as important to keep as the full time employees. Not enough work to do? Send the temps home. Start of the fiscal year, and very few orders to fill? Lay off the temps.
Roight unfair gambol, I say, me old china.
(What?)
So I'm currently in search of something new and stable.
It doesn't help, though, when you've already applied everywhere, and you can't remember what your password is the next time you go to apply. So you think, "Well, this is the only password I have for everything ever, right? And there are only three different ways I type it, right? There's the simple wordway, the 1337 5p34k way, and that other third way I can't remember. So really, only two different passwords, right?
So how is it that I always get them wrong three times in a row, and end up locked out of the system?
UGH
Anyway, on to more deloverly material, I'm working on an animated short about Gum MAN, a hero who fights evil.
You know, it just occurred to me that Gum MAN doesn't really have any kind of obvious powers, but he always saves the day. I like that. Keeping things like that vague makes the story that much more hilarious. It's like, "Whoa, I had no idea he could fly and firin lazars!"
He can't, though. He does have some kind of power, I just don't know what it is. And no, it's nothing to do with "gum".
Anywhey, I'm making two videos starring him! The first one is the big project I've wanted to make for a while now, and the second is a smaller episode I'm making for the fun of it, and also to keep myself interested in the bigger project.

As you can see, it's going to be quite a silly event. I'll be posting them to this website when they are completed, so you'll have to come here to see them. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
In conclusion, I'm hungry, and it's time to get some food.
Tahrah!

Muffins
I just bought a couple of blueberry muffins from Sheetz, and I got to wondering which part is the best: top or bottom?
If I had to choose, I'd say top, because there's more of it and it usually has those sprinkles on it.
What about you guys? What's your favorite part of the muffin?
Hello!
Welcome!
I'm super thrilled you've come. There's not much right now, but I'll be posting stuff very soon.
Bear with me, though, since my camera stinks for sketches. Digital photos might not be so bad, though.
Also, I'm gonna post my animations here, so if you want to see them, you need to come here. This is where Gum MAN 4 will be posted when it is completed.
I'll periodically post polls with either relevant or inane questions. Feel more than free to vote!
Also, there is a nifty ittle SUBSCRIBE button. Just leave your email there, and you should be notified everytime I post something here. Handy!
As for the rest, there is no more. Carry on!
Feel free to leave a comment or whathaveyou below, and I'll see you later!
